Mayor Smith Makes First Donation To Heart Fund As Drive Opens. Jackson Mayor J. Phil Smith (left), President of the First National Bank, made the first contribution to the 1958 Heart Fund Drive last week, officially opening the campaign, which will continue through February 28th. The high point of the drive will come on February 23rd, Heart Sunday, when local solicitors will blanket the area in a house-to-house collection. Joy Allen Fletcher (right), Heart Fund Chairman, received the Mayor's contribution on behalf of the Breathitt County Heart Association, an affiliate of the American Heart Association.
