An unknown lodge group of Breathitt County men (Jackson once had several secret society-type lodges.) is shown in the street now called Armory Drive. Note the large brick buildings in the background. A few survive today. At the time, of course, the location was ideal since these buildings were directly across the street from the L&N depot in South Jackson. Note the condition of the street with several large gullies, trash and garbage. There was no garbage pickup in those days, no running water, and electricity had just been introduced to the area.
