A nice view of the Jackson Bridge about 1909. Note the log rafts tied to the banks. The Swann-Day Lumber Company operated at the time in South Jackson and was a large firm. In the background are several interesting things. 1) At the far back may be seen a ramp leading down into the river from the railroad. No doubt it had to do with coal or lumber. 2) Several big boats are tied to the wharf at left. 3) A paddle-wheel is seen on one boat. It looks like it had seats. Maybe it was an excursion boat. and 4). Note the nice little toll booth located at one end of the bridge. Jackson was a boom town when this photo was made!
