Pearl Begley, for the past
several years an instructor in the veterans on-farm training
program in Breathitt County and co-owner of Begley's Service
Station here, has been named one the four new adminstrative field
men by the Production Marketing Administration in Kentucky, it
was revealed this week.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky in
agriculture, Mr. Begley is a native of Leslie County. He has
resided in Jackson for the past 15 years.
In his new post, he replaces Jesse Robinson,
who had served for the past 21 years. His duties will be of supervisory
nature in 14 Eastern Kentucky counties, from Clark to Pike, and
he will work out of the state offices of the PMA in Lexington.
His appointment became effective December 15th.
Mr. Begley is a Republican and is the second
Breathitt Countian to be assigned to a federal job in recent
weeks. Earlier in December, Mrs. M. H. Holliday, Jr., also of
Jackson, was named enumerator in Breathitt, Lee, Wolfe and Owsley
counties for the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce.
