In the late 1920s someone put together a nice tour book to tell the world about the new highway into and through the mountains of Kentucky. Later it was named Kentucky Highway 15. However, at the time this book was published the road was given the name the "Appalachian Way." It began in Winchester and continued on to Whitesburg. The author of this booklet traces the road through Clark, Powell, Wolfe, Breathitt, Perry, and Letcher Counties, with side trips to Hyden, Cumberland, and into Virginia. It is a treasure in my collection. Above is the first of four pages devoted to Jackson and Breathitt County. The others are listed below this one. (go back)
