Logs headed down the river about 1910. Millions of prime logs were floated to mills at Frankfort, Ford, and Beattyville during the first twenty years of the 1900s. Later Jackson and Quicksand had mills. This photo was made from the railroad in what is today called the "cutoff" section of South Jackson. Note the tollhouse on the left end of the Jackson bridge.
