Weeks before the school fair schools throughout Breathitt County practiced marching for the big parade through the streets of Jackson, Kentucky during the annual Kiwanis School Parade. Here the student body of Little Red School, which was once located near Breathitt High School, are all lined up and ready for a daily practice session. At left may be seen some of the brightly painted classrooms which gave the school its name. The teacher looks to be Mr. Von Watts. Behind the students is Breathitt High School. The gray building once housed the industrial arts ( in the 1st floor), art and band classes. The white building at right was a study hall. It was soon torn down and replaced with a two-story building which served as study hall and school library, along with two classrooms. The top of the Breathitt High School gym may be seen just beyond the band room. The school's main building may be seen. It faced Court Street. The scene above is taken from the back of the school.
