Mrs. Lou McIntosh holding
her birthday cake with its many candles. "Aunt Lou"
celebrated her 88th birthday at her home at Quicksand on April
10th. She received many lovely cards and gifts and enjoyed a
delicious birthday cake and dinner. Among those present were
her daughter, Orie, and two daughters-in-law: Mrs. Smiley McIntosh
and Mrs. Sam McIntosh of Kragon. Her son, Smiley, snapped this
photo for us. April 10th has come and gone and with it "Aunt Lou" McIntosh has passed another milestone along life's pathway -- her 89th. This year's birthday was held at the home of her son, Smiley McIntosh, who lives on Highway 15 a short distance above Quicksand. "Aunt Lou" lives with her daughter, Orie, at Quicksand. She is the widow of Jesse McIntosh, who died in 1931, and is remarkably well preserved. She enjoys company and is a fine conversationalist. During her quiet hours, she likes to make quilts and do needlework, and she works without glasses. Her appetite is good, and she enjoyed eating the delicious birthday cake, which she is pictured holding (above) with all its candles. The cake is a present of her son, Smiley. During the day, she was visited by all her children, which includes Sam McIntosh, in addition to the two already mentioned. She also has 10 grandchildren. There were many visitors who called on her birthday to congratulate her, and she received a lot of nice presents. In the summer, she attends the Little Jerusalem Church at Kragon, of which she is a member. Her many friends wish her many, many more "Happy Birthdays." (Courtesy of The Jackson Times, ca. 1952) |
