Curt Jett, the man accused of killing J.B. Marcum and others, is shown at left while standing in the Breathitt County Court Yard in Jackson, Kentucky during May, 1903. Troops were sent to Jackson for a third time to keep peace and order. (Other times were in 1873-4 and 1878.) Jett was being tried in the courts of Breathitt. However, no verdict was reached so he was tried again in Harrison County and convicted, but one man's vote saved him from hanging. This old faded photo is a copy taken from the Louisville Courier-Jourier which carried many photos and long stories about Marcum-Jett-Cockrell-Hargis-Callahan Affair.
