Jackson as it appeared in the summer of 1890. Very few things survive from this date in Jackson. Lees College does. Also, a small house which today stands across from BHS on Court Street survives. (Lewis Bailey lives in it today.) If there are other things, I don't know about them. Thus in one-hundred years a whole town has been replaced building by building! Some of the landmarks in this photo include: the C.J. Little house at bottom center, the first brick house in Jackson; the James Hargis house at left center, in the location of the current BHS; the old courthouse when it had a wooden bell tower; and the Presbyterian Church when it had a tall steeple.
