Crossing the North Fork of the Kentucky River
from Jackson to South Jackson by ferry, about 1895. Until 1899 there was
no bridge to span the river. The railroad was in South Jackson having arrived
in 1891. Thus for eight years train travelers had to take the ferry to Jackson.
