He married Patsy Clay, daughter of Elisha and Pearlina Cope Clay. She was born in 1869 and died in 1936. They had eight children, including my grandfather, Sam Strong. Elisha and Captain Bill served together in Company D, 6th Kentucky Cavalry; he as a Private, Captain Bill as a Corporal. Incidentally, both men deserted this unit during the War, and both were disciplined for it. Neddy once ran freight boats up and down the North Fork of the Kentucky River near his home at Sulphur Gap. Later in life, he worked for the Kentucky Land Company as a rent and lease representative. Both he and his wife are buried in the Neddy Strong Cemetery at Sulphur Gap in Breathitt County.
