In and around the Jackson Depot - about 1921. When the Kentucky Union Railway arrived in Jackson in 1891, the boom was on. South Jackson, then called Inverness, quickly became a thriving community. Here we see the first Jackson depot (at right), the Adams Express building (center, bottom). Several brick storehouses were built. Some yet remain. In the background may be seen some of the operations of the Swann-Day Lumber Company. A few years after this photo was taken, a large brick depot was built. It was destroyed a few years ago.
