In 1922 the W.H. Spencer (Uncle Huse) family was noted for the fine watermelons it raised. Seated from left: "Uncle Huse" and his wife Syrilda Cockerhan Spencer, and their son Floyd Spencer. In back is Grace Spencer (Haney), Floyd's daughter. The family lived in the Pucket Bend area of Breathitt and Lee counties. The Spencers were farmers, loggers (cutting, rafting, and running logs), and operated a sawmill and gristmill on Rock Lick. Floyd was the first postmaster at Key, Kentucky.
