The large stone arch leading into the Breathitt County. (L-R): Bert Goff, Ervine Allen, Doug Haddix, and James Haddix are shown here. Goff and Allen are members of the War Memorial Committee. The WPA stone blocks were donated by Winalee Little Ratliff. They came from the old Strong Fork School, once located on the Strong Fork of Frozen. (At one time our county had many schools built of native rock hewed by local WPA workers in the 1930s.) The rock was laid by Alonzo Neace and his grandson Christopher Jay Mount.
