Making Molassess - About 1989

A few years ago while on my way to attend the Morris Fork Fair held at Morris Fork every October, I followed Highway 315 along the Middle Fork of the Kentucky River. On the way I saw a large crowd in a field just across the river. They were making molassess and seemingly having a good time. It just so happened that a long swinging bridge led across the river at the very spot. So I stopped, took my camera and joined the crowd. Below are some of the many photos I took. I am sorry I didn't get the names of those people photographed. However, they should be well-known to many people in the Canoe area of Breathitt County. The affair was held, I believe, on the homeplace and farm of Will Turner. I would appreciate anyone who can to give information about these photos, etc.
