Logs are all around in this photo taken near the mouth of Longs Creek in the Middle Fork area of Breathitt County about 1910. Four travelers look to their left at a large log raft stuck on a sandbar. Note logs at far right and at far left ready to be washed downstream to mills at Beattyville, Ford, and Frankfort. Also, notice how low the water was at this time in the Middle Fork of the Kentucky River.
