A Few Notes On The Hounshells

The father of Andrew Hounshell was Jacob Hounshell, who came from Holland and settled in Virginia. The family lived there until the children reached maturity. Andrew Hounshell married Miss Vina Bryan, a near relative of Daniel Boone's wife, Rebecca, and move into what is now Breathitt County and settled on the Lick Branch of Quicksand; five miles from Jackson, on the Eddie Hounshell farm.
Andrew Hounshell, born 2/2/1811, in Lee County, Virginia, married Vina Bryan, born 11/2/1812. They had ten children, as follows: Minerva Hounshell, married 12/11/1853, Barney Bach; Susannah Hounshell, born 1837, married Solomon Frazier; William Patrick Hounshell, born 7/2/1938, killed by H. Kilburn; Andrew Jackson Hounshell, born 3/7/1840, married Eliza Bach and Lou Ellen Bach; Harvey Hounshell, born 7/13/1843, married Minervia Bach, daughter of Solomon Bach; Rissa Hounshell, married William Eldridge; Sarah Hounshell, married Van Buren Martin; Armina Hounshell, married Tom Patton, in Magoffin County; Isaac Henry Hounshell, married Emily Bach and Rebecca Shepherd; and Lydia Hounshell, married Isaac Holbrook.
Jacob Hounshell, or Houndyshell, came into Lincoln County, Kentucky (Eastern Kentucky) and was listed for taxes May 3, 1790.
