The community of Dumont (or Lower Quicksand) is seen in this photo taken in 1979. The North Fork of the Kentucky River is in flood stage as can be seen at the mouth of Snowden's Branch. Your author has seen water over this area of Old Quicksand Road many times. Both of Breathitt County's Drive-In theaters may be seen in this photo. Today both are out of business.
