John A. Haddix of Breathitt County was the son of William Gray and Margaret Bowman Haddix. He was born in 1854 and died in 1949. He is buried in the Haddix Cemetery on KY-1110, about ten miles south of Jackson. According to the submitter, John A. sent this photo (allegedly taken at a hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana) to Loutish Haddix Chaney in Wisconsin, who was John's sister-in-law. John's daughter, Julia, who had married Clifton Chaney, was enroute to Wisconsin with her husband, two children, her father-in-law, and her brother-in-law, when the train wrecked on November 13, 1912. Everyone in this group was killed, except Clifton. |
